On December 11, the State Scientific Institution “Institute for Single Crystals” of the NAS of Ukraine hosted the first meeting of the Coordination Council of the Pharmaceutical Cluster of the Kharkiv Region. Representatives of leading research and educational institutions that have already joined the Cluster took part in the meeting, including:
- State Scientific Institution “Institute for Single Crystals” of the NAS of Ukraine
- Institute for Problems of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine of the NAS of Ukraine
- V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University
- National University of Pharmacy
- State Institution "V. Danilevsky Institute for Endocrine Pathology Problems of the NAMS of Ukraine"
The event was also joined by leading experts from our Laboratory of Drug Technology and Analysis: Dr. Olena Bezugla (Ph.D, Head of the Laboratory of Technology and Analysis of Drugs) and Prof. Dr. Mykola Lyapunov (Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Leading Researcher).
During the meeting, participants approved the composition and working format of the Coordination Council, identified key development priorities of the Cluster for 2026–2027, and agreed on the structure of the Secretariat, headed by Olesia Kulyk, PhD (Chemistry), Associate Professor, Deputy Director of the IFMC. Mechanisms for engaging new partners were discussed, and the Regulations on the Coordination Council and the Secretariat were approved.
To ensure effective communication among members and public outreach, it was decided to create an official Facebook page of the Cluster (and, if needed, a LinkedIn page), develop a logo, and establish internal communication channels.
The discussion also defined the priority areas of the Pharmaceutical Cluster’s activities and the institutions responsible for their implementation. In the near term, the Cluster will focus on the development of educational programs, the design and implementation of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and medicinal products, as well as on improving the regulatory framework in the fields of pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
The Pharmaceutical Cluster has already begun its work. Initial working visits were carried out by researchers of the IFMС of the SSI “Institute for Single Crystals” of the NAS of Ukraine, the Chair of the Coordination Council—First Deputy Director General of the SSI ISC NASU, Director of the IFMC, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Valentyn Chebanov—and members of the Council to the School of Biology, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University and LLC "Scientific Center for Development and Implementation".
According to Academician Valentyn Chebanov:
“Today, it is crucial to establish effective interaction among Cluster members so that cooperation develops systematically and opens new opportunities for researchers. Our Pharmaceutical Cluster is an open association of professionals that always welcomes like-minded partners. In particular, the State Institution ‘'Mechnikov Institute of Microbiology and Immunology’' and LLC ‘"Scientific Center for Development and Implementation" have expressed their readiness to join us. This issue is currently being considered in accordance with the procedure for admitting new members.”
The Pharmaceutical Cluster continues its work, creating a new platform for innovative technological solutions, their implementation, and the development of domestic pharmaceutical production.
