Our Women Scientists at the Celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science!

 Yesterday, on February 11, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, our researchers took part in the popular science event “Women in Science.” The event was organized by the Youth Council under the Kharkiv City Mayor, the Department for Family, Youth and Sports of the Kharkiv City Council, the Department of Education, and the Municipal Institution “Center for Youth and Leisure”
The event brought together representatives of Kharkiv’s scientific community, university students, and school students to promote science, support women researchers, and encourage young people to pursue scientific careers. The program featured STEM locations, presentations of humanities disciplines, and demonstrations of scientific experiments.

The team of the Institute of Functional Materials Chemistry was represented by:

-  Iryna Bespalova – Academic Secretary of the State Scientific Institution “Institute for Single Crystals” of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Senior Researcher, Doctor of Technical Sciences;
-  Olesia Kulyk – Deputy Director of the Institute of Functional Materials Chemistry, PhD in Chemistry;
-  Daria Miasnikova – PhD, Junior Researcher;
-  Vladyslav Honcharov – Postgraduate Student, Junior Researcher.
At the STEM locations, they presented the Institute’s developments, demonstrated research results, and, most importantly, engaged with school and university students. In the curious eyes of young people, we see our tomorrow. Such meetings help someone take their first step into science, as science inspires, unites, and opens new opportunities for the younger generation.
During the event, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov congratulated the participants and highlighted the significant contribution of women to the development of science in the city and the country. The best women scientists of Kharkiv were awarded certificates of appreciation for their diligent and productive work, high professionalism, and substantial contribution to the development of science in Ukraine. Among them were researchers of the Institute of Functional Materials Chemistry:
Olga Kolosova – PhD in Chemistry, Senior Researcher;

Yana Sakhno – PhD in Chemistry, Senior Researcher.

This recognition is a symbol of appreciation for the hard work, professionalism, and dedication of all women scientists. Events like this once again demonstrate that even in these challenging times for Ukraine, under wartime conditions, the scientific community continues to work, develop, and inspire.
